Documentation - Options/Preferences
There are two places to adjust the different properties of
Pocket Album. Tools->Options relates to preferences of
SmartAlbum mode, as well as the defaults for albums in
Album mode.
For example, the time to wait between pictures
(during slideshows) as specified in Options serves as the
time to wait for SmartAlbum as well as the default time
to wait for albums created in Album mode.
The Options display has several screens: Photos, SmartAlbum,
Rotations, Scaling, Fading, and Advanced. Each screen
configures an aspect of Pocket Album.

Delay between pictures: the time to wait in between pictures when SmartAlbum is in slideshow mode.
Optimize for 12-bit display: dithers images to display better on devices with 12-bit screens (iPAQ, Jornada).
Show picture filename: this will display the name of the image that is currently being displayed on the image itself.
Show/hide notes: if Pocket Album detects that a note is associated with an image, this will automatically pop up the notes window. If the notes window is showing, and there is not a note associated with an image, this will hide the notes window.
Wait for sounds to complete: in some circumstances, a sound attached to an image might be quite lengthy - longer than the delay before the next picture is loaded and displayed. When this option is enabled, Pocket Album will wait for the sound to complete before advancing to the next picture.
Start in fullscreen mode: this starts up Pocket Album in fullscreen mode. Tap the screen to return to windowed mode.
Use alternate extension for notes: this uses an alternate extension for notes and sounds (PWI2 and WAV2) instead of the default file extensions for notes and sounds (PWI and WAV). This will disable ActiveSync from syncing any of these items (which might clutter up the Notes view in Outlook on the desktop).

Directories containing photos: where SmartAlbum will look for pictures.

Rotation / Scaling screens are explained in the Image Display section.

Fading enabled: determines if any image transitions should be used when switching between pictures.
Fade types: the different fading modes.
Fade only when fullscreen: determines whether fading is disabled when Pocket Album is in windowed mode.
Fade at 2x speed: speeds up the transition effects.

Associate Pocket Album with filetypes: when tapping a file of the desired filetype, Pocket Album will be launched and the image displayed.
Image quality: adjusts the tradeoff between loading time and image quality. The 'Normal' setting should be satisfactory for most usage.
VGA settings: this is enabled when the drivers for a compatible VGA card are installed on the device.

Resolution: adjusts the display and output resolution of the image.
Palette type: on palettized devices, better image quality may be achieved by selecting a different 256 color palette for the image. For example, when viewing presentation slides, the default palette should be satisfactory. For photographs, a full color cube palette might look better.
Dither image: this will dither the image to the output palette, further increasing the image quality.
Disable fading: this disables fading effects to the VGA output, which could otherwise slow the picture display.
See Album Mode for an explanation of the Album->Properties screen.
