Conduits Technologies, Inc. Releases Pocket Artist 2.5 for Pocket PC and Handheld PC 2000
TAMPA, FLORIDA, December 2, 2002 -- Conduits Technologies, Inc. announced today
the release of Pocket Artist 2.5 for Pocket PC, Pocket PC 2002, and Handheld PC
2000. Pocket Artist is a drawing and image manipulation program for the Windows
powered mobile devices.
Pocket Artist 2.5 provides 24-bit color graphics editing on Windows CE devices.
The user interface is optimized for small screens while retaining a full set of
features, including expanded support for digital camera users. Pocket Artist
supports opening graphics in a variety of formats (PSD, JPG, GIF, and BMP), and
work can be saved into PSD, JPG, or BMP formats.
Version 2.5 builds upon the strong core drawing functionality of Pocket Artist
by incorporating new image manipulation features. New tools are introduced to
manipulate sections of the image by way of drawing onscreen, and new commands
are added for manipulating whole sections of the image at once.
The new Cleaning Brush tool selectively patches certain areas of a picture that
contain specks and other noise that needs cleaning. The "cleaning radius" of
the brush is variable. Pocket Artist 2.5 also introduces a new Red-Eye brush
tool -- when used on an afflicted image, the red-eye caused by the light of a
flashbulb is reduced, while retaining any specular highlights reflected by other
lights in the scene.
Advanced color calibration tools are available for adjusting the hue,
saturation, and lightness for areas of an image, as well as a new brightness and
contrast tool, for quick alterations to the color balance of an image. In
addition, Pocket Artist introduces advanced Image Level tools, which re-map
shadows, midtones, and highlights of an image to different values, permitting
advanced adjustment of darkness, lightness, and contrast balance. Pocket Artist
contains advanced algorithms for common Image Level adjustments, such as those
to fix the washed out effect from a camera's overflash, or those to fill the
shadows of a poorly lit image. All color calibration tools include a preview
window where users can spot check the new changes to the image.
Pocket Artist supports "Layer" functionality, used in advanced imaging
techniques. Layer support allows for an image to be built up and composited via
the creation and manipulation of separate image layers, which can all have
different blending modes and opacity settings. Layered documents may be opened,
edited, and saved as PSD files, the format of the desktop image software, Adobe®
Photoshop®.
Other features of Pocket Artist 2.5 include: gradient and gradient pack support,
brush pack support, an image browser, selection tools, zooming, anti-aliased
text drawing, quick shapes, convolve, flip, rotation, image and canvas resizing,
17 blending modes, undo, screen capture, desktop settings, blur, emboss,
sharpen, and tool opacity. A recent file list is also available for easy access
to works in progress. The new painting and brush facilities, combined with
existing tools such as pattern and texture stamps, enable Pocket Artist to
simulate drawing with "natural media," such as charcoal, chalk, and crayon.
Pocket Artist 2.5 is available as a commercial demo from
http://www.conduits.com, where the user can download and evaluate the software
for 30 days.
Pocket Artist 2.5 is available for an introductory price of $49.95. Existing
customers of version 2.0 are eligible for a free upgrade. Existing customers of
version 1.0 and 1.2 are eligible for a discounted upgrade price of $19.95.
