Conduits Technologies, Inc. Announces Availability of Pocket Watch for
Microsoft® Windows Powered Smartphone Software
TAMPA, FLORIDA - October 22nd, 2002- At the global launch of the Microsoft
Windows® Powered Smartphone today, Conduits Technologies, Inc., a leading
provider of software for the Microsoft Pocket PC platform, announced that Pocket
Watch, Conduits' interactive world clock application, is now optimized for
Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone software.
Founded in 1999, Florida-based Conduits Technologies, Inc. has risen to the
forefront of Microsoft Pocket PC software developers as a leader in style and
innovation. Pocket Watch presents the user with a world view of daylight
information. A world map with a moving "night boundary" separates areas of
daytime and nighttime. The boundary moves right to left as the day elapses, and
changes shape as the year progresses (approaching flatness on the equinoxes).
The picture is "skinnable" and different pictures of the world can be used (when
downloaded into the Smartphone). The user may bind up to nine "favourite
cities" to the numbers on the Smartphone keypad.
Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone provides a rich data platform for mobile
developers and operators to build compelling mobile data applications and
services. Mobile phones built on the Smartphone platform combine fully
integrated voice and data capabilities with a rich set of applications including
personal information management (PIM), gaming and multimedia features in a
small, lightweight mobile phone form factor. Orange is the first operator
worldwide to announce retail availability of a Windows Powered Smartphone, the
Orange Smartphone SPV™.
"Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone helps to fulfill the goal of creating an
easy to use, high powered mobile device primarily for data viewing. Pocket
Watch fits into the platform by providing a quick and easy method to examine the
time in various locations around the world. Conduits looks forward to
supporting the Windows Powered Smartphone with our other applications such as
Pocket Slides, our presentation package," says Conduits President and CEO, Jason
Patterson.
"Microsoft is excited that Pocket Watch application is available for
Smartphone," said Robbie Wright, Director, Mobile Devices Marketing Group,
Microsoft EMEA. "Pocket Watch takes advantage of Smartphone's rich data
capabilities to offer users simplified navigation and global communication
through its 'global time reference' feature."
Conduits develops commercial applications for Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket
PC, including Pocket Slides (a PowerPoint presenter and editor), Peacemaker (a
cross-platform infrared exchange utility) and Pocket Artist (a drawing and image
manipulation program for the Pocket PC).
